Niels HULSBOSCH obtained his PhD in Sciences (Geochemistry) from KU Leuven in 2016, following the completion of his Master’s degree in Geology in 2012. He continued his academic career as a postdoctoral researcher at KU Leuven until 2020. In 2021, Niels transitioned to Buildwise, where he took on the role of project leader at the Concrete Technology Laboratory. Since 2024, he has been serving as an R&D expert within Buildwise’s Structural Engineering Unit. His current work centres on research, innovation support, upscaling, and standardisation of low-carbon and circular concrete, as well as concrete raw materials. This includes addressing sustainability challenges and advancing innovative solutions for the construction sector.
