Circular Wallonia

In 2018, GreenWin launched PEPIT (Polymer Ecocircularity Partnership for an Industrial Transition), a first initiative for the implementation of a truly circular value chain in the polymer industry, in partnership with the MecaTech and Plastiwin clusters. This initiative formed the basis of a more systematic approach, later broadened to other sectors, and was a source of inspiration for Circular Wallonia, Wallonia’s strategy for the deployment of a  circular economy since January 2020.

The final component of this strategy involves six value chains identified as being of priority for the Region:  plastics, construction, textiles, water, food systems and metallurgy.

For each of these, an expert per sector was charged with piloting a task force (TF) that brought together key players of all the areas involved, in order to coordinate the elaboration of structuring activities to be integrated into Circular Wallonia.
GreenWin was designated as task force leader for the  « Plastic materials » and « Construction » value chains.

Presidency of the « Plastic materials » and « Construction » task forces

In view of its expertise in the sector, GreenWin was invited to establish the initial status of the two value chains that it coordinates.

GreenWin organised « Plastic materials » and « Construction » task forces from which were elaborated, and prioritised, diverse proposals for activities aimed at reinforcing circularity in the value chains, : 6 structuring activities were subsequently suggested for the «  Plastics materials » TF and 8 activities for the « Construction » TF.

These were evaluated and validated during a steering committee that included representatives of ministerial offices, members of the Administration, and the task force leaders, to reinforce the synergies and transversalities between the value chains in question.

Following the above, the Walloon government decided to entrust GreenWin with continuing to coordinate the works of the two task forces for the following three years (2021 to 2023).

Participation in the « textiles » task force

In addition, GreenWin has also actively participated in the « Textiles » task force workshops, presided over by Centexbel.
