Meet and talk to Chris VAN DE VOORDE, Co-founder of the Circular Value Institute

Chris VAN DE VOORDE is the co-founder of the Circular Value Institute (CVI), a non-profit organisation dedicated to advancing Circular Value on a global scale. The CVI evaluates the societal and shareholder value of products in circular use cases, fostering better product design and the adoption of circular business models.

Chris draws on his expertise as the founder of JUUNOO, a company specialising in circular interior walls. In 2022 and 2023, Deloitte recognised JUUNOO as Belgium’s fastest-growing sustainable company, underscoring the tangible benefits of circularity. In this session, Chris will discuss how Circular Value serves as a critical lever for accelerating progress towards Europe’s sustainability objectives. Through the work of the Circular Value Institute — a non-profit accelerating the transition to a circular economy — he and his team quantify both societal and shareholder value in circular products. By applying the Circular Value formula (Residual Value divided by Cost of Reuse), companies can evaluate the economic feasibility of circular strategies and make informed, data-driven decisions. He will demonstrate how this methodology not only supports Europe’s rapid industrial growth but also facilitates the shift towards product-as-a-service models, directly contributing to Europe’s goals for resource efficiency, climate neutrality, and sustainable development. Additionally, participants will gain practical insights from successful Belgian circular economy initiatives and explore key findings from the CVI Blueprint Project, developed in collaboration with the Circular Buildings Coalition. Together, these insights offer a robust framework to transform Europe’s circular ambitions into measurable economic and environmental outcomes.
