Development of an innovative, environmentally-friendly method for eliminating PFAS pollutants by combining advanced technologies, including an electron beam, micro-organisms and a low-temperature thermal desorption process, to effectively treat contaminated water and regenerate the activated carbon used in filtration.
GreenWin presents PFAS-BLASTER :
The PFAS-Blaster project proposes to integrate the treatment of activated carbon matrices contaminated by PFAS and process water into a series of destruction techniques.
After biological pre-treatment and desorption, the contaminated matrices are treated with an electron beam from a Rhodotron® to degrade the PFAS and regenerate the activated carbon. The degradation products are post-treated with micro-organisms, including low-temperature thermal desorption of bioreactor sludge to complete the process.
Existing treatment methods all have limitations in terms of efficiency, cost and feasibility on a large scale. The innovative aspect of this project is the synergy between different technologies on an industrial scale, making it possible to benefit from the advantages of all these technologies while limiting their respective disadvantages.
The project is also a sustainable alternative to current thermal treatment, drastically reducing CO2 emissions while remaining cost-competitive.
